Being quite short in stature with a curvy body type, weight management has always been challenging for me. After a cesarean delivery with my second child, just 14 months after delivering my first child, the idea of losing weight became overwhelming and the thought of trying again was dreadful. I gave up entirely and allowed myself to completely lose control. Anything loaded in sugar was my crutch and nothing stopped me from eating it.
A friend of mine introduced me to the Ketogenic lifestyle and as hesitant as I was, I couldn’t get over the drastic results of fat loss from her body. A part of me feared that I might fail as I had repeatedly failed other weight loss plans in the past. I told myself I would follow the diet for 1 month. The first thing i noticed was that the bloat came off immediately. The fat was next. Once it started, it didn't stop. During my first month following the Ketogenic lifestyle, I lost a total of 15 lbs. By the time I had been on the diet for 5 months I had lost 51 pounds bringing me from my starting weight of 185 lbs. to 134 lbs. I was able to love my body after having my children for the first time. Actually, I was able to love my body for the first time, ever! Losing weight had been the main focus for me but mental clarity was an added bonus. Being someone who struggles with mental health, feeling good mentally and emotionally is a very important factor in my life. Following a Ketogenic lifestyle helps me feel clear and hopeful.
